East 12th and 15th Streets
There's currently no safe, convenient, quick way for bicyclists to get downtown to/from East Oakland. Let's get some bike lanes on East 12th and East 15th Streets.Campaign Goal:
Install bike lanes on East 12th from 1st Avenue to 54th Avenue and East 15th Street from 1st Avenue to 14th Avenue to connect a contiguous bike route from East Oakland to Lake Merritt and downtown. See the interactive map below.
Campaign Overview:
• All of these projects are included in the Bicycle Master Plan that the City Council passed in December, 2007.
• There are seveal bike-car accident prone intersections along this corridor (data coming soon).
• This is not a project that involves expensive or extensive work. We can get it done in the next 18 months year - by December 2009.
• It's time to put some paint on the pavement!
Let's push the Public Works Committee and the Councilmembers whose districts this project goes through to get this project done.
For more information about the new intersections and new bike lanes that WOBO is pushing for, see the project map below.
